The last line of "Poem for South African Women" from Passion, by June Jordan. The poem was presented at the U.N. in 1978 to commemorate the 40,000 women & children who, in 1956, presented themselves in bodily protest against the “dompass” in the capital of apartheid. June Jordan was a brilliant, queer, Black writer & activist.
